The first Oxford v Cambridge match was played on the lake at St Moritz in 1885 — the oldest ice-hockey rivalry recognised by the IIHF. The Alumni Community keeps the connection alive, supports the next generation through the OUIHC Endowment Fund, and stewards the archive.
From the inaugural Cambridge fixture at St Moritz in 1885 to today's Varsity Match in March, OUIHC alumni have carried Oxford colours onto rinks across the world.
The OUIHC Alumni Organisation exists to keep that community connected — across decades, across colleges, across continents. We host the annual Alumni Match and dinner over Varsity weekend each March, run the annual Toronto Alumni Match, and support current players through the OUIHC Endowment Fund.

Established in 2023 with £150,000, the OUIHC Endowment Fund supports the ongoing development of the club whilst reducing the financial barrier to participation for its members.
The fund is managed by Oxford University Endowment Management (OUem), a regulated subsidiary of the University. Annual dividends cover training, coaching, tours, equipment, and an Accessibility Fund. We're working towards the next milestone of £250,000.
"He loved the game… we all did — and that's why it survived." — Colin Brezicki, Oxford Captain 1971
Brezicki was speaking of his goaltender that year, Andrew Rowan — a South African cricket wicketkeeper turned netminder who went on to beat Cambridge in seven consecutive Varsity Matches.
